Strategic Planting That Grows With Your Property.
Specimen quality trees and shrubs installed with proper root preparation, staking, and long term growth planning for the Fraser Valley.
Plants That Thrive for Decades
Trees and shrubs are the permanent architecture of your landscape. They provide privacy, shade, wind protection, seasonal color, and wildlife habitat. Unlike annuals or perennials that can be easily replaced, trees and shrubs represent a long term investment that either appreciates or depreciates based entirely on how they are selected and installed. A tree planted in the wrong location or at the wrong depth will struggle for its entire life.
At Trueform, plant selection starts with a thorough understanding of your site conditions. We assess sun and shade patterns throughout the day and across seasons, soil type and drainage characteristics, wind exposure, proximity to structures and utilities, and the mature size of each species we consider. A Japanese maple that looks charming at 4 feet can reach 25 feet in a decade. A cedar hedge planted too close to a fence will outgrow its space and require constant shearing.
Our planting specifications follow industry best practices that go beyond simply digging a hole. We excavate planting holes to twice the root ball width but no deeper than the root ball height. Root circling and girdling roots are corrected before planting. Backfill is native soil, not amended soil that creates a perched water table effect. Trees are staked only when necessary and stakes are removed after one growing season to encourage trunk strength.
We source plants from established Fraser Valley and Pacific Northwest nurseries that grow stock adapted to our climate. Specimen quality trees are hand selected for form, branching structure, and root health. Shrubs are chosen for density, flower quality, and disease resistance. Every plant we install comes from a reputable grower and is backed by our one year establishment warranty.
After installation, proper mulching retains moisture, moderates soil temperature, and suppresses weeds without suffocating roots. We apply a 3 inch layer of organic mulch in a donut shape around each plant, keeping mulch away from trunks and stems to prevent rot. Combined with proper watering during the first growing season, these practices give every plant the best possible start.

Frequently Asked Questions
Fall (September to November) is the best planting time. Cool temperatures and fall rains allow roots to establish before winter dormancy. Spring (March to April) is the second best window. Avoid planting during summer heat or frozen winter ground.
Trees should be planted so the root flare (where the trunk widens at the base) is at or slightly above soil level. Planting too deep is the most common cause of tree decline and is irreversible once the tree matures.
Yes. We provide a one year warranty on all plant material when our recommended watering and care schedule is followed. Plants that fail to establish during the warranty period are replaced at no cost.
As a general rule, small trees (under 25 feet mature height) should be planted at least 10 feet from foundations. Medium trees need 15 to 20 feet. Large trees need 20 to 30 feet. We also consider root type, soil conditions, and utility locations.
Yes. We can remove existing trees and stumps, amend the soil, and plant new specimens in the same visit. We coordinate with arborists for large tree removals that require specialized equipment.
