Flawless Lawns. Installed the Right Way.
Premium sod varieties selected for the Fraser Valley climate, installed on properly graded and amended soil for lasting results.
A Perfect Lawn Starts Below the Surface
A beautiful lawn is the foundation of any great landscape. It is the surface your family plays on, the frame around your garden beds and hardscaping, and the single largest visual element in most Fraser Valley yards. But a lawn is only as good as the soil it grows in, and in our region's clay heavy ground, proper preparation is the difference between a lawn that thrives and one that struggles with drainage, compaction, and disease.
At Trueform, sod installation is a construction project, not a cosmetic one. We start by removing existing turf and debris, then test and assess the underlying soil. Fraser Valley soils are predominantly clay based, which means they hold water too long in winter and compact to concrete hardness in summer. We address these conditions by incorporating organic amendments, topsoil, and sand to create a root zone that drains properly while retaining enough moisture for healthy growth.
Grading is the next critical step. We establish positive drainage away from your home's foundation and any hardscape features, with a consistent slope that prevents low spots where water puddles. Proper grading also ensures your lawn mower will cut evenly across the entire surface. We grade to within a quarter inch of finished elevation across the full lawn area.
We source our sod from local Fraser Valley farms that grow varieties specifically bred for our climate. Kentucky bluegrass and perennial ryegrass blends provide the best combination of durability, shade tolerance, and year round color for our region. Sod is delivered fresh and installed the same day, with each piece tightly butted against its neighbor to prevent gaps that would allow weed infiltration and drying.
After installation, proper watering during the establishment period is essential. We provide detailed irrigation instructions and can install an automatic irrigation system to ensure your new lawn receives the right amount of water at the right times. With proper care during the first 3 to 4 weeks, the sod roots knit into the soil and your lawn becomes a permanent, resilient surface.

Frequently Asked Questions
Sod can be installed any time the ground is not frozen, but spring (March to May) and early fall (September to October) are ideal. These periods provide moderate temperatures and natural rainfall that support root establishment without heat stress.
Light foot traffic is fine after 2 weeks. The sod needs 3 to 4 weeks for roots to fully knit into the soil before heavy use, pets, or mowing. We recommend waiting until you can tug a corner without it lifting.
New sod needs daily watering for the first 2 weeks, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Weeks 3 and 4, reduce to every other day. After 4 weeks, transition to a normal watering schedule of 1 inch per week.
Yes, with the right variety. We use shade tolerant blends with fine fescue for areas receiving less than 4 hours of direct sunlight. Very heavy shade under dense evergreens may be better suited to ground cover or artificial turf.
