Drainage Problems Solved. Permanently.

French drains, catch basins, channel drains, dry wells, grading corrections, and foundation drainage for Fraser Valley properties.

Stop the Water Before It Stops You

The Fraser Valley receives over 1,500 millimetres of rainfall annually, with the heaviest months dumping rain for weeks without pause. Combined with the region's prevalent clay soils that absorb water slowly and drain poorly, water management is not optional, it is essential. Standing water damages foundations, kills lawns, erodes slopes, creates mosquito habitat, and makes outdoor spaces unusable for months at a time.

At Trueform, we approach drainage as a complete system, not isolated fixes. When you call us about a wet area in your yard, we do not just install a drain at that spot. We trace the water to its source, map the flow paths across your property, identify all the areas where water is collecting or flowing incorrectly, and design a solution that manages the entire system. This approach costs the same or less than spot fixes because it solves the problem once instead of chasing it around your property.

French drains are our most common drainage solution for the Fraser Valley. A French drain is a perforated pipe installed in a gravel filled trench that intercepts ground water and redirects it to an approved discharge point. We install French drains along foundations to protect against hydrostatic pressure, along retaining walls to relieve water pressure behind the wall, across slopes to intercept water before it reaches problem areas, and at the perimeter of patios and driveways to prevent pooling.

Catch basins and channel drains handle surface water. Catch basins are installed at low points where water naturally collects, with underground pipes routing the water to a discharge point. Channel drains are linear drains installed across driveways, patios, and walkways to intercept sheet flow before it reaches the structure. Both are connected to a piped system that moves water efficiently off the property.

Grading corrections address the root cause of many drainage problems. Over time, soil settles, gardens build up, and the original drainage grades change. We regrade problem areas to restore positive drainage away from foundations and structures, and we build swales and berms where needed to redirect surface water. Combined with French drains and catch basins, proper grading ensures that water is managed both on and below the surface.

Perforated Drain Pipe

4 inch corrugated or rigid PVC perforated pipe with filter sock. Handles high flow rates in heavy rain.

Catch Basins

9x9 or 12x12 inch catch basins with grated tops. Installed at low points to collect surface water.

Channel Drains

Linear drainage channels for driveways, patios, and walkways. Stainless steel or polymer grates.

Drainage Gravel

Clean washed gravel (3/4 clear crush) for drain trenches. Provides rapid water flow to perforated pipe.

What to Expect

Drainage costs depend on the system scope and site conditions. A basic French drain installation runs $30 to $50 per linear foot. Catch basin installations cost $500 to $1,200 each including pipe connections. Complete property drainage systems with multiple components typically range from $5,000 to $20,000. Grading corrections are priced based on area and equipment requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common signs include standing water after rain, soggy or mossy lawn areas, water stains on foundation walls, erosion on slopes, and gutters that overflow into problem areas. If water is not leaving your property within 24 hours of rainfall, drainage improvements are likely needed.

A French drain is a perforated pipe installed in a gravel filled trench that intercepts and redirects underground water. The gravel allows water to flow to the pipe from all directions, and the pipe carries it to a discharge point. French drains are the most effective solution for subsurface water problems.

Drainage water is directed to an approved discharge point, typically the municipal storm sewer, a rock pit (dry well), or a daylight outlet at a lower elevation on the property. We verify the approved discharge method with your municipality before installation.

In some cases, yes. We can install channel drains and catch basins within existing patios and driveways by cutting and replacing sections. For French drains, we typically work in landscape areas adjacent to the hardscaping.

French drains cost $30 to $50 per linear foot installed. Catch basins cost $500 to $1,200 each. Complete property drainage systems range from $5,000 to $20,000. We provide a detailed estimate after assessing your specific drainage issues.
